Let the side each cube = a= 15 cm

After joining the two cubes it becomes cuboid

Dimensions of cuboid is

Length = a+a = 15+15 = 30 cm

Breadth = b= 15 cm

Height = h= 15 cm

Total surface area = 2(lb+bh+lh)

= 2(30*15 + 15*15+30*15)

= 2(450+225+450)

=2*1125

=2250 square cm.
