When two ice cubes are pressed hard between the palms, the melting point of ice lowers due to the applied pressure which leads to the formation of a thin layer of water where they are pressed together. When the pressure is released , the ice cubes join together. The lowering of pressure increases the freezing point of the ice cubes and they fuse together.
