Total Distance cover by both cyclist in same direction is 36 km

Total Distance cover by both cyclist in opposite direction is 180 km .

Step-by-step explanation:

Given as :

Two cyclist start from the same point and at the same time

The distance between the points AB = d km

The speed of cyclist from point A = 12 km/h

The speed of cyclist from point B = 18 km/h

Both the cyclist travel for  6 hours

Let both cyclist cover half the distance

According to question

Distance = Speed × Time

For cyclist from point A

D_A  = 12 km/h × 6 h

D_A = 72 km

So, Distance travel by cyclist from point A = D_A = 72 km

Again

For cyclist from point B

 D_B  = 18 km/h × 6 h

 D_B = 108 km

So, Distance travel by cyclist from point B =  D_B = 108 km

When cyclist travel in same direction,

Total Distance cover by both cyclist =  D_B - D_A

                                                           = 108 km - 72 km

                                                           = 36 km

When cyclist travel in opposite direction,

Total Distance cover by both cyclist =  D_B + D_A

                                                           = 108 km + 72 km

                                                           = 180 km

Hence, Total Distance cover by both cyclist in same direction is 36 km

And Total Distance cover by both cyclist in opposite direction is 180 km . Answer
