Let the meeting point be at C which is x km from belur and 28 - x km from halebidu.
The speed of Arjun in one hr is :
x / 1 = x km/h
The speed of Karan is :
( 28 - x) km/h
Both cover the same distance at the end of the journey therefore time for :
Arjun = 28/x
Karan = 28 / (28-x)
Arjun's time is more by 35/60
Equating the two times we have:
28/x = 28/(28-x) + 35/60
Collecting the like terms together we have :
28 × (28 - x) × 60 = 28 × x × 60 +35(28 - x)
47040 - 1680x = 1680x + 980 - 35x
46060 = 3325 x
x = 46060 / 3325 = 13.85 km
Speed of Karan :
(28 - 13.85) / 1 = 14.15 km / h
