Given: Two cylindrical vessels fitted with pistons A and B of area of cross section 8 cm² and 320 cm²

To find: the pressure on piston A ?

Solution:

  • Now we have given area of cross section of piston A is 8 cm² and area of cross section of piston B is 320 cm² .
  • So pressure acting on piston A will be in downwards direction.

                    Pressure = Thrust / area

                    Pressure = 4 kg / 8 cm^2

                    Pressure = 0.5 kg / cm^2

Answer:

                 So the pressure on piston A is 0.5 kg / cm^2.
