Given : Two dice are thrown simultaneously.

To Find : The probability of getting a sum of 9

(A) 1/10 (B) 3/10 (C) 1/9 (D) 4/9

Solution :

A dice has numbers from 1 to 6

2 dice are thrown simultaneously

Hence total possible outcomes = 6 * 6 = 36

Sum 9

3 + 6 = 9

4 + 5 = 9

5 + 4 = 9

6 + 3 = 9

Favorable out comes (3 , 6)(4,5) , (5, 4) , (6, 3)

4 Favorable out comes

The probability of getting a sum of 9 is:  4/36

= 1/9
