When the two dice are thrown simultaneously we will have the following possible pairs.

1 and 1  , 2 and 1 , 3 and 1, 4 and 1  , 5 and 1, 6 and 1

1 and 2  ,  2 and 2, 3 and 2,4 and 2, 5 and 2,  6 and 2

1 and 3 ,  2 and 3,  3 and 3, 4 and 3, 5 and 3, 6 and 3

1 and 4   ,  2 and 4, 3 and 4, 4 and 4, 5 and 4,  6 and 4

1 and 5    , 2 and 5, 3 and 5,4 and 5,  5 and 5,  6 and 5

1 and 6    ,  2 and 6, 3 and 6, 4 and 6 , 5 and 6, 6 and 6

These are 36 possibilities.

Since we have two dice we will have 36 possible pairs.

We therefore have 36 possibilities.

The pair whose products can give 12 are:

3 and 4 or 6 and 2 or 4 and 3 or 2 and 6

This probability of getting a product of 12 for a pair is thus :

4/36 = 1/9

Answer:

The probability that the product is 12 when two dice are thrown is 1/9.

Step-by-step explanation:

Given: Two dice are thrown.

To find the probability that the product is 12.

When two dice are thrown there are total 36 outcomes.

Outcomes with product 12 are: (2,6),(6,2), (4,3),(3,4).

By the definition of probability we know that:

Probability= (Number of outcomes with product 12)/(Total number of outcomes)

Probability= 4/36

                 =1/9

Therefore, the probability that the product is 12 when two dice are thrown is 1/9.
