Two differences between the following :

Physical Change

  • No new substances formed.
  • It is a temporary change.

Chemical Change

  • New substances formed.
  • It is a permanent change.

Examples of changes :

  • Physical Change : Melting of ice , Breaking a glass , Boiling of water, Mixture of sand and water. Dissolving of sugar and water , tearing of a paper , melting of wax etc.

  • Chemical Change : Ripening of fruits , cooking of food. Rotting of vegetables, Burning of paper etc

Physical Change :

  • A change in which a substance undergoes a change in its physical
  • properties, which is generally reversible is known as Physical change.
  • In Physical change no new substance
  • is formed

Eg : Tearing a piece of paper.

Chemical change :

  • A change in which one or more new substances are formed is called a
  • Chemical change.
  • It is generally a Irreversible change.

Eg : Burning of Magnesium ribbon.
