QUESTION --- two different bodies are acted upon by external forces, such that the acceleration in first body is 4 times the acceleration in second body. what is ratio of mass of first body to that of second body?

ANSWER -----

Force exerted on both the bodies is given to be equal
Let force be F

FORMULA -
F = mass × acceleration

LET Acceleration in first body be a and in second body be 4a

F = m1 × a ------------- (I)

F = m2 × 4a -------- (II)

Combining both of them since they are equal

m1 × a = m2 × 4a

m1 / m2 = 4a / a

m1 / m2 = 4/1

This implies that Ratio between mass of first body to second body is 4: 1
