Glucose is oxidised in two different ways :

Either it is oxidised in the presence of oxygen in mitochondria

or it is broken down in absence of oxygen which takes place in the cup to produce lactic acid instead of carbon dioxide

Generally glucose is oxidized either through the process of glycolysis or through the process of crebcycle.

Glycolysis is a simple catabolic process in which the glucose is break-down into pyruvate acid and high amount of energy is produced and in this process oxygen is not required.

Crebcycle is a complex catabolic process of breaking down of glucose into sugar, carbondioxide, energy and water. It is a chainwise ad long term process. It occurs cyclically through different steps by changing one form to another form
