Two drops of methyl orange are added to a dilute solution of sodium hydroxide taken in a test tube. Then a solution of hydrochloric acid is added in drops till the solution becomes neutral. Mention the change in colors during the process mentioned above. What will be the color if excess of acid is added at the end?

Answer:

sodium hydroxide + methyl oorange

turns yellow

since

sodium hydroxide is base

hcl is acid

therefore

they neutralize each other property

so the solution becomes neutral
