Two elements A and B belong to the 3rd period of modern periodic table and are in group 2 and 13 respectively. Compare their following characteristics in tabular
form
(i) Number of electrons in their atoms
(ii)Size of their atoms
(iii) Their tendency to lose electrons
(iv) The formula of their oxides

Given,

A is in group 2 and period 3

B is in group 13 and period 3

1 - No. of electrons in A = 12 and B = 13 (A<B)

2 - B will have a smaller atomic size than A ( A>B)

3- A will lose more electrons easily (A>B)

4- AO and B2O3

5- A is more metallic than B

6- ACl2 and BCl3 ( because A has 2 valence electrons and B has 3 valence electrons
