Element percentage mass ratio atomic ratio
X 76 76/75 = 1.01 1.01/1.01 = 1x 2 = 2
Y 24 24/16 = 1.5 1.5/1.01 = 1.48≈1.5 x 2 = 3
So empirical formula of compound = X₂Y₃
For molecular formula you have to provide molecular mass of the compound.
Hope this helps.
