1. On moving along the period, the valence electron increases. So element X has 1 valence electron while element Y has 2 valence electrons.
2. X has 1 valency and Y has 2 valency.
3. The metallic character decreases. The element Y is the most metallic element than element X.
4. The atomic size decreases. The element Y is bigger than element X.
5. The formula of chloride of X is XCl and Y is YCl2.
