two elements X and Y belong to the second group of periodic table. X has 2 shells and Y has 3 shells in it a) which of these is more metallic in nature. why ? b) what is the formula of the chloride of X and sulphide of Y? c) is the valency of X same as that of Y or different? why ?

a) element Y is more metallic as the metallic character increases as when we move down a group in the periodic table.

Also, Electro positivity is directly proportional to metallic character as size of the atom increases, electro positivity increases.

b) chloride of X = XCl2 Sulphide of Y= YSc) X &. Y shall have the same valency.

Because, in a group, all the elements have same number of valency electrons.
