Two equal positive charges q are fixed at point (a, 0) and (-a, 0) on x axis and opposite charge - q at rest is released from (0,a) on y-axis. The charge minus q will be

a.Move to infinity

b.Moved to origin and rest there

c.Under go shm about the origin

d.Execute oscillatory periodic motion but not shm

d.Execute oscillatory periodic motion but not shm

as it is sure that it is oscillatory but it is not a shm because for shm distance of oscillation should be small

d. execute oscillatory periodic motion and no shm

since for shm, the displacement ( in this case a) in the y axis should be less in comparison to the distance between the charges then only the conditions necessary for shm would be fulfilled ( a directly proportional to - x). But there is a force which brings the charge to mean position thus it undergoes oscillatory periodic motion
