When the two resistors are connected in series their equivalent resistance will be equal to sum of their individual resistances

1/Re=1/R+1/R
1/Re=1+1/R
1/Re=2/R
Re2=R/2

Re1/Re2=2R2/R
Re1/Re2=4/1
=4:1
Re=R+R
