Question-
Two equal sides of a triangle are each 4 metres less than three times the third sides. If the perimeter of the triangle is 55 metres. find the length of its side
Answer-
- Let the third side of the triangle, which is the unequal one = x
- Then the two equal sides = 3x - 4
- Perimeter = 55 m
Now,
(x) + (3x - 4) + (3x - 4) = 55
⇒ x + 3x - 4 + 3x - 4 = 55
⇒ 3x + 3x + x - 4 - 4 = 55
⇒ 7x - 8 = 55
⇒ 7x = 55 + 8
⇒ 7x = 63
⇒ x = 63/7 = 9 m
The first and second side of the triangle = 3x - 4 = 3(7) - 4 = 21 - 4 = 17 m
The third side = x = 7 m
