Two equal sides of a triangle are each 5 metres less than twice the third side. If a the perimeter of the triangle is 55 metres, find the lengths of its sides.

length of equal sides = (2a -5) units

now, perimeter = 55

⇒a + (2a-5) +(2a-5) = 55

⇒5a =65

⇒a =13

so length of sides are 13 m, 21 m and 21 m
