Let the length of equal sides be X
and the third side be Y
From given data:
X + 5 = 2Y. equation 1
X = 2Y - 5
Also given that perimeter is 55
Thus
X + X + Y = 55
2X + Y = 55 equation 2
solving equation 1 and 2
Putting value of X = 2Y - 5 in equation 2
2 ( 2Y - 5) + Y = 55
4Y - 10 + Y = 55
5Y = 65
Therefore Y = 13m
For X :
X+5 = 2 Y
X = 2Y - 5
X = 2( 13 ) - 5 = 26 - 5 = 21m
Therefore X = 21m and Y = 13 m
Cross Verification : X + X + Y = 21 + 21 + 13 = 55 hence verified
and the third side be Y
From given data:
X + 5 = 2Y. equation 1
X = 2Y - 5
Also given that perimeter is 55
Thus
X + X + Y = 55
2X + Y = 55 equation 2
solving equation 1 and 2
Putting value of X = 2Y - 5 in equation 2
2 ( 2Y - 5) + Y = 55
4Y - 10 + Y = 55
5Y = 65
Therefore Y = 13m
For X :
X+5 = 2 Y
X = 2Y - 5
X = 2( 13 ) - 5 = 26 - 5 = 21m
Therefore X = 21m and Y = 13 m
Cross Verification : X + X + Y = 21 + 21 + 13 = 55 hence verified
