ATQ, the two equal sides of the isosceles triangle is 4m less than the 3 times of the third side..
let the third side of the isosceles triangle be x.
therefore length of the other two equal sides = 3x - 4
perimeter of the isosceles triangle is given = 55m
therefore x + (3x - 4) + (3x - 4) = 55m
==> x + 3x - 4 + 3x - 4 = 55m
==> 7x - 8 = 55m
==> 7x = 55 + 8
==> 7x = 63
==> x = 63/7
==> x = 9
hence, dimensions of the isosceles triangle :-
3rd side = x = 9m
and length of the equal sides = 3x - 4
= ( 3 × 9 ) - 4
= 27 - 4
= 23m
dimensions are 9m, 23m and 23m.
