Correct question:

Two equal sides of an isosceles triangle are each 2 cm more than thrice the third side. If the perimeter of the triangle is 77cm, find the length of the sides of the triangle.

Answer:

The length of the sides of the triangle are _ 33.29 cm, 33.29 cm and 10.43 cm.

Given:

Two equal sides of an isosceles triangle are each 2 cm more than thrice the third side.

The perimeter of the triangle is 77 cm.

To find:

The length of the sides of the triangle.

Explanation:

Let, the length of the third side be, 'n'.

∴ The length of each equal sides = (n×3) +2

                                                      = 3n+2

∴ Perimeter = (Sum of the three sides)

                  = n +(3n+2) +(3n+2)

                  = 7n+4

∴ According to the problem:

7n+4 = 77

⇒ 7n = 77-4

⇒ n = 73/7

⇒ n = 10.428

⇒ n = 10.43 cm approx.

∴ The length of the third side is 10.43 cm.

∴ The length of each equal sides of the triangle = (10.43×3) + 2 cm

                                                                               = 31.29+2.00 cm

                                                                               = 33.29 cm.

∴ The length of each equal side of the triangle is 33.29 cm.
