Question:

Two equal sides of an isosceles triangle are each 2cm more than thrice the third side. If the perimeter of triangle is 67cm, find the length of its sides.

Solution:

Let the equal sides be x

And the third side be y

A.T.Q.

x+2=3y

x= 3y-2

Perimeter of the triangle= sum of its sides

67= 3y-2+3y-2+y

67=7y-4

67-4=7y

7y=63

y= 63/7

y= 9

x=3y-2

x= 3(9)-2

x= 27-2

x= 25

Answer:

Sides of triangle are: 25 cm, 25 cm and 9cm
