Define x:

Let the third side be x cm

the two equal sides are 2x - 5

Solve x:

The perimeter is 55m

x + (2x - 5) + (2x - 5) = 55

x + 2x - 5 + 2x - 5 = 55

5x - 10 = 55

5x = 65

x = 13 m

Find the length of the sides:

The third side = x = 13m

The two equal sides = 2x - 5 = 2(13) - 5 = 21 m

Answer: The length of the sides are 13m, 21m and 21m
