Carbon dioxide undergoes sublimation at normal atmospheric pressure. It's called "dry ice" because no liquid is produced as the solid transforms to gas. ... Iodine is another example of a substance that undergoes sublimation. It's a silver-gray solid that gives off a purple gas.
