HARVESTING COMPLETED BY A IN 5DAYS

HARVESTING COMPLETED  BY B IN 7 DAYS

SO WORK DONE BY A IN ONE DAY= 1/5

AND B = 1/7

NOW WORK DONE BY A IN  3 DAYS = 3/5

NOW TOTAL WORK DONE BY THEM IN ONE DAY = 1/5+1/7

  =  7+5/35

  =  12/35

  SO DAYS NEDDE TO COMPLETE  THE HARVEST=35/12 DAYS

AS WE KNOW THAT  3/5 PART OF WORK HAS BEEN ALREADY DONE BY A

SO NOW TIME TAKEN TO COMPLETE THE HARVEST = 35/12 - 3/5

  = 175-36/60

  = 139 / 60 DAYS

  =  2 19/60  DAYS

Given : Ramesh and suresh, can harvest a field in 5 days and 7 days respectively

After Ramesh has worked for 3 days he is joined by suresh

To Find  : in how many more days will they complete the harvesting

Solution:

Ramesh, can harvest a field in 5 days

=> Ramesh can harvest in 1 day = 1/5

Suresh, can harvest a field in 7 days

=> Suresh, can harvest  in 1 day  = 1/7

Both can harvest in 1 day  = 1/5 + 1/7   = 12/35

Ramesh has worked for 3 days = 3(1/5)  = 3/5

Remaining Work = 1 - 3/5  = 2/5

Number of days further required  = (2/5)/(12/35)

= 70/60

= 7/6 Days

7/6  more Days

and 3 + 7/6  = 25/6 Days altogether
