GIVEN :-

Two Field one is square and another is rectangle.

Both have equal perimeter

Side if square = 72m

Length of rectangle = 80m

TO FIND :- Which has greater area and by how much?

FORMULA :-

Area of square = (SIDE)^2

Area of rectangle = Breadth * Length

Perimeter of square = 4 * Side

Perimeter of rectangle = 2(Length +

Breadth)

SOLUTION :-

In order to solve it we will first find the breadth of the rectangle.

According to question,

Perimeter(Square) = Perimeter(Rectangle)

=>4 * 72 = 2 ( 80 + B )

=> 2 * 72 =  80 + B

=> 144 = 80 + B

=> B = 64m

Now, we shall calculate area of both the fields,

ar(square)= (72*72)m^2 = 5,184 m^2

ar(rectangle)=(64*80)m^2 = 5,120 m^2

Therefore, square field has larger area.

Difference in area is 5184 - 5120 = 64m^2

Square has larger area by 64m^2 (ANS)
