Given:

Two firecrackers bursted together on same side of a boy. If the boy hears the sound of firecrackers in between interval of time 0.1 s.

To find:

Distance between the crackers is ?

Calculation:

Let the sound from cracker situated near the boy travel for t sec , so the sound from far away cracker will travel for (t + 0.1 sec)

Distance of near cracker from boy:

 \therefore \: d1 = v \times t

 \implies \:d1 = 330t

Distance of far away cracker from boy:

 \therefore \: d2 = v \times (t + 0.1)

 \implies \:d2 = 330(t + 0.1)

So, distance between the crackers:

 \therefore \: d = d2 - d1

 \implies \: d = 330 \bigg(t + 0.1 - t \bigg)

 \implies \: d = 330 \bigg( 0.1\bigg)

 \implies \: d = 33 \: metres

So, the crackers are situated 33 metres from one another.
