Given :

Ratio of radii of fog droplets = 2:3

To Find :

The ration of terminal velocities of the fog droplets

Solution :

  • Terminal velocity of a droplet is directly propotional to the square of the radius of the droplet

        v\propto r^{2}

  • From the relation above we can write

        \frac{v_{1} }{v_{2}} \ = (\frac{r_{1} }{r_{2} })^{2}

  • By substituting the values in the above equation

        \frac{v_{1} }{v_{2}} \ = (\frac{2}{3})^{2}

        \frac{v_{1} }{v_{2}} \ = \frac{4}{9}

The ratio of terminal velocities of fog droplets is 4:9
