Given : Two forces (i + j + k) and (i + 2j + 3k) act on a particle and displace it from (2,3,4) to point (5,4,3).

To find : the work done by the forces.

solution : given forces,

F₁ = (i + j + k) and F₂ = (i + 2j + 3k)

net force, Fnet = F₁ + F₂ = (i + j + k) + (i + 2j + 3k)

= (2i + 3j + 4k)

displacement of the particle, s = (5, 4, 3) - (2, 3, 4)

= (3, 1, - 1) = 3i + j - k

now workdone , W = Fnet. s

= (2i + 3j + 4k) . (3i + j - k)

= 6 + 3 - 4

= 5 J

Therefore work done by the forces is 5J.
