Ratio = 1 : 5 (Given)

Define x:

Let the cheaper of the two bicycles be x

The other one is 5x

Solve x:

The difference is Rs 3600

5x - x = 3600

4x = 3600

x = Rs 900

Find the selling price of the costlier bicycle:

Costlier bicycle = 5x = 5(900) = Rs 4500

Find the cost price of the costlier bicycle:

Loss = 10%

Selling Price = 100 - 10 = 90%

Selling Price = RS 4500

90% = 4500

1% = 4500 ÷ 90 = Rs 50

100% = 50 x 100 = Rs 5000

Answer: The cost price of that bicycle is Rs 5000

Given:

Ratio = 1 : 5

Let the cost of the cheaper cycle = x

Let the cost of the costlier cycle = 5x

Given: Difference = 3600

5x - x = 3600

4x = 3600

x = 3600/4

x = 900.

Finding the selling price -

cheaper cycle x = ₹ 900

costlier cycle 5x = 5(900) = ₹ 4500 .

Finding the cost price of costlier cycle -

given : loss is 10%

Cp \: = \dfrac{100}{100 - loss} \times sp

Cp \: = \dfrac{100}{100 - 10} \times 4500

CP = ₹ 5000.
