let A and B be the friends with velocities 8 m/s and 12 m/s

distance by A : d1= vt = 8t

distance by B : d2= vt = 12t

add both eq

d1+d2=8t+12t

200= 20 t

t=10 s

so distance by A and B are 80m and 120m respectively
