Two friends were playing 'catch the ball' in a park. 'A' was able to catch the ball comfortably without

hurting himself, while 'B' was hurt every time he caught a ball. Finally, B asked A how he could

catch the ball with ease. A explained the phenomena to B. B thanked him. Why was A not hurt while

catching the ball?

Answer:

Because he use the Newton's Second law of motion in which if anyone has to catch the ball so he pulls his hands backwards with the moving ball.

Explanation:

This is done so as to increase the time of catch in which the high velocity of a moving ball decreases to zero. Thus, negative acceleration of ball is decreased and therefore, the force of impact of catching the ball is also reduced. As a result, the person who is catching the ball avoids the chances of injury to his palms and fingers.
