two gentlemen of verona why does the author says that the boys were childish and mature at the same time

The story recount the hard life chosen by the two young boys so that they could pay for the treatment of their sister who is afflicted with tuberculosis. The boys sacrifice their sincerity and devotion to the cause and the maturity they display in their action gives a new hope for humanity.
