Correct question:

Two girls have 72 photographs of celebrities between them. One gives 11 to the other and finds that she now has half the number her friend has. How many photographs does each one have?

One friend has 35 photographs and other has 37 photographs.

Given:

Two girls have 72 photographs of celebrities between them. One gives 11 to the other and finds that she now has half the number her friend has.

To find:

How much photograph does the each one have

Solution:

Let the photographs with one girl be x and the other girl be y

So, the total photographs are given as 72 that means photographs with one girl + photographs with other girl = 72

x + y = 72........1

y = 72-x

Now we have been given that One gives 11 to the other and finds that she now has half the number her friend has.

So, lets suppose the girl with photograph gives away 11 photos, so now she will have x - 11 photos

Now, the phots with other girl will be y + 11

According to question

x - 11 = 1/2( y + 11)

2(x-11) = y + 11

2x - 22 = y + 11

2x = y + 11 + 22

2x = y + 33

We will put value of y here

2x = 72- x + 33

2x + x = 72 + 33

3x = 105

x = 105/3

x = 35

y = 72 - x

= 72 -35

= 37

Hence, one friend has 35 photographs and other has 37 photographs.
