In 1829 - Abolition of Sati and in 1856 - Widow Remarriage act was passes by the East India Company which was done for the sake of humanity
But the Indians Thought That The British Company are interfering in the social customs on India which was not accepted by the Indians and created a feeling of hatred towards British in the Minds And Hearts Of Hindus And Muslims and therefore was one of the cause of Uprising  Revolt Of 1857
