Let cost of 1 cola be x

let cost of 1 icecream be y

so, according to the question

x+2y = 3.80 -->1

and

x+y=2.40 -->2

subtracting 2 from 1

y = £1.40 and x = £1

so one icecream costs £1.40

one cola costs £1
