as they are identical balls then mass of A and B be m

initial velocity of A ,u=5m/s

and initial velocity of B ,u1=-3m/s

according to the law of conservation of momentum

mu+mu1=mv+ mv

both of them after collision will have same velocity i.e v

m(u+u1)=2mv

u+u1=2v

5-3=2v

2=2v

1=v

the velocity after collision is 1m/s
