two identical bars ,one which is steel and the othe amagnet are painted with the same colour. how can you tell which one is magnet using only these two bars? ( dont break the bars)

if we will keep one bar on the table and slide the other one past it so if the piece kept on the table is a magnet then the bar in our hand will experience variable attraction as a magnet attracts more at poles and less at centre
if the magnet is in our hand then the attraction will be equal throughout.
