Answer:

Total surface area of the cuboid =  40 cm³

Step-by-step explanation:

Given data

Two identical cubes each of total surface area of 24 sq cm are joined end to end

⇒ surface area of cube  6a² = 24 sq cm

                                          a²  = 4

             side of the cube   a  =  2

now here we need to find total surface area of the obtained cuboid

when two identical cubes are joined together

the length of the cuboid will be double to the length of cube

and breadth and height are remains as same

dimensions of the cuboid are

              length  l = 2(2) = 4 cm

              breadth  (b) = 2 cm

              height    (h) = 2 cm

total surface area of the cuboid = 2[lb + bh + hl]

                                                = 2[ 4(2) + 2(2) + 2(4)]

                                                = 2 [ 8 + 4 + 8]

                                                = 2 [ 20] = 40 cm³
