Correct Question

Two identical metal spheres possess +60C and -20C of chargesthey are brought in contact and are seperated by 10cm the force between them is

Solution

Given in question that, first charge i.e. q1 is having a charge of +60C and second charge i.e. q2 is having a charge -20C.

Both the charges +60C and -20C are separated by a distance of 10 cm.

{ r = 10 cm = 10 × 10^-2 m }

As per questions,

If they brought in contact with each other then the charge carry by both of them is 20C.

⇒ (q1 + q2)/2

⇒ (60 - 20)/2

⇒ 40/2

⇒ +20C

Therefore, both of the charges are carrying a charge of +20C when they brought in contact with each other.

Now,

F = k(q1 × q2)/r²

From above calculations we can say that, q1 = q2 = +20C

F = k(20 × 20)/(10 × 10-^2)^2

Where, value of k is 9 × 10^9

F = (9 × 10^9 × 4 × 10000)/1

F = 9 × 10^13 × 4

F = 36 × 10^13 N
