Two identical resistors each of resistance 10 ohm are connected in series and parallel in line to a battery of 6volts . Calculate the ratio of power consumed in the combination of resistors in the two cases

V=6v

R1=10 ohm

R2=10 ohm

Connected in seris power consumption

= v^2/r

=6×6/10+10

=36/20W. (1)


Connected in parallel

Total resistance

1/R=1/10+1/10

= 2/10

=1/5. =>R =5 (2)

Power con sumed

=v^2/r

=36/(5)

Ratio of power consumption

=(36/20)/(36/5)

=36/20×5/36

=1/4
