The resistance in series combination is 20Ω and in parallel combination is 5Ω. The ratio of power is 0.25 W
Explanation:
- 1) Resistance in series combination:
10 + 10 = 20Ω
Now find the current
I=V/R = 6/20 = 0.3 A
Now power
P1=V(I) =6 × 0.3 = 1.8 W
- 2) Resistance in parallel combination:
1/R = 1/R + 1/R
= 1/10+1/10
R = 5Ω
- Now current in the battery.
I = V/R = 6/5 = 1.2 A
- Power of battery:
P2 = V × I = 6×1.2 =7.2 W
- Ratio of power consumed:
P1/P2 = 1.8/7.2
= 0.25 W
