The ratio of power consumed in series combination to that of parallel combination = 1/4
For series combination -
The equivalent resistance(R') = 15 + 15 = 30 ohm
Current flowing in the circuit = I = 6/30 = 0.2 A
The power consumed = I²R' = (4/100)×30 = 12/10 W
For parallel combination -
The equivalent resistance (R) = (15×15)/30 = 7.5 ohm
Voltage in the circuit = V = 6 volts
The power consumed in the combination = V²/R
= 36/7.5 W
Ratio of power consumed in series combination upon parallel combination= (12/10)/(36/7.5)
= (12×7.5)/360
= 90/360
= 1/4
