Taking 2 cases here-->
Case 1- Resistors are connected in series (Pic 1)
We know that when resistors are connected in series combination then the total resistance R will be
R=R1+R2
R=10+10
R=20 ohms
Given that, V=6 volts
So, current I will be
I=V/R (ohm's law)
I=6/20 or 3/10 ampere
P=
P=(3/10)^2*20
P=9/100*20
P=9/5 watt
Case 2- The resistors are connected in parallel combination (Pic 2)
So, 1/R=1/R1+1/R2
1/R=1/10+1/10
1/R=1/5
R=5 ohms
Given, V=6 volts
I=V/R
I=6/5 ampere
P=
P=(6/5)^2*5
P=36/25*5
P=36/5 watt
Now, we are asked the ratio of the powers in the question
So, Ratio=Power in series/Power in parallel
Ratio= 9/5/36/5
Ratio= 1/4
Ratio=1:4 (Answer)
Hope this helps you..Have a nice day!
