stomata helps in exchange if gases , it takes carbon dioxide (which is used in photosynthesis) and gives out oxygen .

stomata helps in transpiration (the removal of excess water from plants in form of vapour)

in plant the stomata play a very important role in transpiration.
therefore stomata is very important for plants because they perform the functions to exchange of gases and exchange of water vapour.
