Two inlet pipes a and b can fill an empty cistern in 4 hours and 8 hours, respectively. If both are opened together in the empty cistern,how much time will they take to fill it completely?​

Answer:

if a can fill a cistern in 4 hours and b in 8 hours then if we take them both in one hour then it will be 1 by 4 for a and 1 by 8 for b then if we add A + b gives a 1 by 4 + 1 by 8 gives 3 by 8 then reciprocal it will give 8 by 3 gives 2 hours and 30 minutes
