Two jars having capacity of 3 and 8 liters are flled with mixtures
of milk and water. In the smaller jar 40% of the mixture is milk
and in the larger 40% of the mixture is water. The jars are
emptied into a 15 liter cask whose remaining capacity is filled up

In the smaller jar :-

Capacity = 3 litres

Amount of milk (40%) = (40/100) × 3 = 1.2 litres

Amount of water = 3-1.2 = 1.8 litres

In the larger jar :-

Capacity = 8 litres

Amount of water (40%) = (40/100) × 8 = 3.2 litres

Amount of milk = 8-3.2 = 4.8 litres

In the cask :-

Capacity = 15l

Filled = 8+3 = 11l

In which amount of milk was (4.8l + 1.2l) = 6l

Remaining space = 15-11 = 4litres

which is filled with milk

Therefore,

Total amount of milk = 6+4 = 10litres

Percentage = (10/15) × 100% = 66.66 litres
