Two kinds of nervous system are:
i) Central Nervous System
ii) Peripheral Nervous System
Central Nervous System: It comprises of the brain and spinal cord. It is the main system where all other systems including peripheral system are controlled.
Brain has three parts:
i) Fore brain: responsible for learning, thinking and intelligence
ii) Mid brain: responsible for involuntary actions of head neck and trunk.
iii) Hind brain: The hind brain has further three divisions:
a) Pons: responsible for respiration
b) Medulla: responsible for involuntary actions as vomiting, salivation, breathing, etc.
c) Cerebellum: responsible for balance and equilibrium of the body.
Peripheral Nervous System: The peripheral nervous system comprises of nerves and glands.
There are two types of nerves:
i)Sensory Nerves
ii)Motor Nerves
There are also two types of divisions on the basis of there existence as cranial and spinal nerves.
Cranial nerves arise from the brain and spinal nerves from spinal cord.
Peripheral system controls our endocrine system which has our glands which secrete hormone.
Thyroid gland: Thyroxine. It controls the metabolism of fats, proteins and carbohydrates
Pancreas: Insulin and glucagon.controls blood sugar level
Adrenal gland: adrenalin gland. it increases the heart beat, blood pressure and breathing rate to make the person ready for any situation of fight or flight.
Testes: testosterone
Ovary: oestrogen and progesterone
