two lamps, one rated 100 W ; 200 V , and the other 60 W ; 200 V , are connected in parallel to electric mains supply. Find the current drawn by two bulbs from the line, if the supply voltage is 220 V.

For the 2nd lamp:

I2= P2/ V =60/ 220 = 0.273 A

So, the net current drawn from the supply is given by

= I1 + I2 = 0.455 + 0.273 = 0.728
